Despite trailing to two early tries, Bradford Dudley Hill bounced back to hand Waterhead only their third defeat of the season in National Conference Division Two, winning 16-8.
Hill now lead a tightly-fought division on points difference from both Waterhead and Crosfields.
However, all that looked unlikely when Hill's Neil Wall allowed the ball to bounce, Waterhead winger Paul Joyce scoring a shock first-minute try.
Worse followed in the eighth minute when Joyce got his second try, this time from a play on the last tackle.
It took Hill 26 minutes to get on the scoreboard, substitute Martin Brannan putting Wall in for a try, which the scorer duly converted.
Eight minutes later, Alex Dickinson intercepted a pass and ran 50 metres to score and convert himself to give Hill a shock 12-8 interval advantage.
There was no further scoring, however, until the 72nd minute when the pack laid the platform for Brannan to crash over.
Lewis Evans was Hill's man of the match as a stand-in for full back Craig Tyman, who left the field with an injury.
Brighouse Rangers made it three wins out of three with a 12-8 success against Stanningley.
Simon Jackson gave Brighouse the lead and winger Richard Flynn added the extras.
Ten minutes later Stanningley clawed an unconverted try back when Stuart Halliday ran the full 90 yards to score in the corner. Brighouse winger Max Tomlinson scored on 53 minutes, Flynn converting, but Danny Rawlins' try made it a tense final 20 minutes.
