The second round of the Halbro Yorkshire Cup proved a happy hunting ground for three Bradford clubs who made the draw for the next stage.

Last season's runners-up Queensbury stayed on course to go one better this term with a sparkling 32-20 success at Eastmount to earn a home tie against St Joseph's.

Wingman Luke Brearcliffe claimed a try in each half with further efforts from Steve Eyles, Matt Galtress and Karl Rouse. Luke Brooks scored a touchdown and added four conversions.

Clayton came out 36-22 winners in the derby encounter against Victoria Rangers.

The Vics drew first blood when hooker Ray Greenwood darted over and Len Dalladay converted before the hosts drew level with a converted try from John Parkinson.

Birkenshaw won a cracker 19-16 at Bransholme but an unkind draw sees them repeat the trip to Humberside at Skirlaugh Bulls in the next round.

Birky laid the platform against a huge pack on a narrow pitch with two tries from Morton Robinson and a converted effort from George Flanagan to go into the sheds 14-10 up. Eddie Kilroy squeezed in at the corner and Flanagan added a drop goal to make the game safe.

West Bowling A had a comfortable 24-10 win in the Pennine League Division Two encounter at Newsome Panthers.

John Helliwell, Martin Tordoff, Chris Curtain and Mark Card were the pick of the try-scorers and Adam Bose collect the top player award.

Wyke won the Division Three match of the day, 36-8 at Undercliffe. The black and whites raced to a 30-point lead before Undercliffe came to the party and finished the match with seven tries. Ben Ash- ington, Alan Binns, Ben Stirk, Simon Owen, Paul Coates, Craig Hillam and Shaun Godfrey all crossed the line.

Queensbury A lost 30-20 at home to Hoyland. Bury staged a second-half come-back but, after tries from Brett Marriot (2), Liam Holmes and Luke Cooper, the visitors scored last to come away with the spoils.

In Division Five, Thornton, inspired by scrum half Lee Raistrick, scored 28 unanswered points in the second stanza to win 44-22 at Park Amateurs.

Wibsey Warriors coach Alan Jowett was full of praise after a splendid show from young prop Dean Midgley in the 42-10 Division Six home win over Slaithwaite. Danny Bingley scored two tries and kicked five goals.

Wyke A move joint top after a 64-4 mauling over Greetland. Liam Hay reached the chalk on five occasions.
