Queensbury face a tricky trip to Championship side Keighley in the second round of the Pennine President’s Cup tomorrow.
It took a while for the Crossflatts-based side – formed following the merger of Keighley Albion and Keighley Town in the summer – to gel but they have won seven league games on the trot.
That run has left them just outside the top two but they suffered a blow last week when Division Three side Methley knocked them out of the BARLA National Cup first round last week.
By contrast, Queensbury go into tomorrow’s clash in buoyant mood after dumping fellow Premier rivals West Bowling out of the same competition away from home.
Josh Naylor and Ben Marks will both be in contention for the Bradford side after lengthy lay-offs through injury.
Former Keighley Albion coach Lee Kelley is set to feature for Queens-bury, which should provide added spice to the local derby atmosphere.
In the Pennine League Premier Division, West Bowling go in search of valuable points when they entertain Queens at the Bankfoot Oval.
Victory and results going their way could catapult Bowling up the table to fifth spot.
Wibsey Warriors face Hunslet Old Boys for the second week running after narrowly losing out last time in the President’s Cup.
Wibsey will take great heart from their recent display against the Yorkshire Cup holders and will hope to go one better this time.
Scrum half Andy Robinson is in fine form and hard-working forward Mike Derrick will lead the Warriors pack.
In Division One, Birkenshaw travel to Huddersfield outfit Newsome Panthers.
Coach Jason Hirst will know that if they secure two points and Criggleston slip up they will go second.
Hirst has a number of injury worries, with both captain Matt Honeysett and kicker Matt Gowland facing late fitness tests.
Loose forward Ross Grattan and Steve Wroe miss out but the return of forward Paul Bancroft will be a major boost.
High-flying Bank Top Harriers look to maintain their excellent form when they entertain mid-table Morley Borough. Harriers sit top of the division and should have too much firepower for Morley.
