The eagerly-awaited ACE Insurance BARLA National Cup tie between West Bowling and Queensbury is set to take centre stage on Saturday after last week’s postponement.
Bowling switched the tie from the Bankfoot Oval to Emsleys Rec in an effort to beat the weather, only to see the opening-round game to be called off shortly before the start.
West’s outstanding second-row forward Jonny Summers subsequently played with the second team at Brighouse - a decision that may be a cause of regret after he was forced to retire early with a knee injury.
He will have a fitness test before the start, while Queensbury will be at full strength.
Ben Marks is added to the squad, and coach Andy Senior will also consider selecting Billy Naylor - another bright prospect who has three siblings in contention for a jersey.
Last season’s beaten Pennine President's Cup finalists Wibsey Warriors open this term's campaign with a tough trip to Hunslet Old Boys.
The Warriors' latest signing Danny Belcher will make his debut against a Hunslet outfit challenging strongly for the Premier title, having lost just one game so far. Birkenshaw have the firepower to topple visitors New Earswick All Blacks.
The York side are mid-table in the Championship - a division higher than Birky. However, history is on the host's side, having inflicted a rare double when they last locked horns some years ago.
Clayton welcome free-scoring utility three-quarter Jonny Alderson back from long-term injury for the crucial Pennine League Premier Division clash against bottom-of-the-table St Joseph's.
Alderson warmed up for the task by scoring 24 points for the second string last week.
Bank Top Harriers will extend their lead at the top of Division One if they complete the double over main contenders Crigglestone All Blacks.
The Harriers, who are in rampant mood, will be seeking to repeat the form that saw them win 36-14 in the away fixture.
Wyke will be looking to their outstanding prop Ian Wormald to pave the way for an opening success in the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy, while West Bowling A face a tough challenge at Selby.
Odsal Sedbergh likewise face a difficult fixture against Division Two table-toppers Brighouse Rangers at Odsal Rec.
Undercliffe Wildboars host Whitehall in the Pennine Supplementary Cup.
Boars full back Justin Hunter reverts to half-back, allowing Danny Barok to take to his favoured position, while Mat Garbutt, Lee Naughton and Jake Butterworth are also included in the squad.
