Wibsey Warriors start favourites when they meet Birkenshaw in the Jack Senior Memorial Bradford Cup final at the Grattan Stadium on Sunday (3.30pm).

The Warriors have dominated the local scene this term, having won the Pennine League Championship and finished runners-up to the mighty Queens in the Pennine President's Cup.

They take the field at full strength with the return of full back Mike Derrick and wingman Nick Fontaine, who were rested last week.

Scrum half Ryan Smith is the playmaker and will call the shots, while the pack is a well-drilled unit under the direction of loose forward Harry Hall.

Birkenshaw have suffered a dreadful run of injuries that has left them struggling in the lower reaches of Division One.

However, when it comes to derbies, league form is seldom a deciding factor.

Coach Jason Hirst is a wily campaigner who will be quietly satisfied with the underdog's mantle.

Birky have a huge presence in the three-quarters with centre Tim Menel a threat from any distance, and second-row forward Benoit Rogers will not give an inch in the forwards.

The Warriors' second team play old rivals Queensbury A in the Hudson Foster Supplementary Cup final curtain-raiser at 1.30pm.

Both teams, who operate in Pennine Division Five, get the opportunity to use the old changing rooms with its huge sunken baths, which will add to the occasion by reminding many of the long walk down the Odsal slope to the pitch. Bury have a rising star in loose forward Luke Cheney, who is collecting man of the match awards regularly, while the Warriors' main man will be coach Gareth Asquith, who will use his motivational skills to lift the side after the disappointing Pennine Supplementary Cup final defeat against St Joseph's on Bank Holiday Monday.
