Wibsey Warriors sealed the Pennine League Championship title with a laboured 32-20 victory at Dewsbury Moor.

The Warriors were obviously feeling the effects of their President’s Cup clash against Queens on May Day and took time to get into gear. Two converted tries late in the first half from Ryan Smith and Michael Horrocks put them 12-8 up at the interval, after being eight points behind for the majority of the period.

The two sides then traded scores in the second half, with Mark Darragh and a brace from Neil Sutcliffe doing just enough to secure victory for Wibsey. Andy Robinson contributed 12 vital points from the boot.

Clayton celebrated finishing as runners-up with a seven-try romp at New Earswick All Blacks. Simon Giles and Eddie Harney collected a brace each, with Scott Pendlebury, Chris Anderson and Aaron Blake adding solo efforts. Jason Woolham kicked the goals in a comprehensive 43-16 success.

Bank Top Harriers remain top of Division Two after a thrilling 26-22 win at Stanningley.

Centre Mark Bailey (2), hooker Ryan Sample, loose forward Paul Priestley and Sonny Farrell, a recent signing from Undercliffe Wildboars, all made the chalk, with man of the match Adam Mitchell kicking three conversions.

Dudley Hill A kept their Division Three promotion hopes on song with a mammoth 70-18 win at Sheffield Hillsborough Hawks.

Queensbury A lost their final Division Five home game of the season 36-8 to title winners Slaithwaite Saracens A.

’Bury kept the score to a 10-8 deficit at half-time following touchdowns from Ash Ryan and a lovely passing move that ended with Andy Walker going in unopposed.

Sadly that was the last time they troubled the scoreboard, despite a considerable contribution from loose forward Luke Cheney.
