Siddal A 22, Wibsey Warriors 46 A blistering display from centre Nick Walker steered Wibsey Warriors into the Pennine President’s Cup final after demolishing a strong Siddal outfit at their own domain.

The Warriors made a dream start to their semi-final when former Great Britain Students player Walker collected a flat pass from stand-off Andy Robin-son to cross in heavy traffic at the corner.

Robinson added the extras but the hosts were quickly back on level terms when prop forward Jack Holmes reached out of a tackle to plant the ball on the chalk, leaving hooker Andy Fox a formality with the kick.

Siddal’s quick plays were creating space and another raid saw Holmes collect his second following a short burst and Fox added the conversion.

The Warriors bounced back with gusto when hooker Mike Horrocks spotted the tiniest of gaps to burrow over near enough for Robinson to make it all square once more.

The Bradford side then went on to post two touchdowns in quick succession to rock their Halifax hosts to the core.

Wingman Steve Redman went like a bullet into the corner, soon followed by scrum half Ryan Smith on a sliding run to outwit the cover.

With a 20-12 half-time advantage, the Warriors were in the driving seat but they then shot themselves in the foot when Fox collected a wayward pass to race under the uprights and add the extras himself.

This was the opportunity for Siddal – who play in a league above Wibsey in the Premier Division – to make their mark.

However it was the Warriors who took the game by the scruff of the neck and demolished the hosts in spectacular fashion.

Full back Mike Derrick glided to the whitewash at pace from an inside pass and Walker sprinted over 40 metres to set up a try for wingman Scott Smith.

Loose forward Harry Hall was on the receiving end of two outrageous overhead passes before that man Walker sauntered in at the flag for his brace.

He then shrugged off his apparent weariness with a 60-metre charge that en-abled Redmond to claim his second of the game.

A shell-shocked Siddal gained a measure of solace with a late converted try but they had been completely blown away by a classy Wibsey side.

Robinson kicked a total of five conversions to add to an array of telling passes but it was all-round teamwork that saw them through to meet Queens at Dewsbury Rams in the May final.
