Odsal Sedbergh and Wyke amateur rugby league clubs have organised a fun day to raise money for the family of Eddie McGuinness, who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident in March, 2009 at the age of 43.
The Pennine League clubs will stage the fun day in the grounds of Sedbergh Youth and Community Centre, Huddersfield Road, Low Moor, Bradford on Saturday, August 21.
McGuinness was a former conditioning coach for the Bulls and Salford City Reds, and played amateur rugby for both Odsal and Wyke.
This will be the second fun day since his death and Odsal and Wyke intend continuing the day as an annual event.
The day will start at 12 noon with a masters (veterans) game between Odsal and Wyke, with the teams comprising a number of McGuinness’s old friends and team-mates.
This will be followed by an emerging under-eights game and then finally the Eddie McGuinness pre-season memorial game will be played between the Wyke and Odsal open age teams.
During the day there will be a multitude of stalls and attractions for the family as well as the mandatory barbecue and beer tent.
