Wibsey Warriors were made to battle hard for their 50th unbeaten Pennine League game on the bounce in Division Two at Morley.

After being behind for much of the game, they managed to come away with the two points, eventually finishing 40-30 victors.

Packman CJ Vogel was in inspired form, crossing the whitewash for a hat-trick. Wibsey’s other scores came from brother Jamie Vogel, Phil Brain, and Mike Derrick, with Andy Robinson on hand to kick 12 points.

In Division One, Queensbury just failed to post a double at Ackworth Jaguars as they went down 30-22, while West Bowling A stand-off Andy Patchett was the star of the show in the 44-6 home win over Keighley Town.

He kicked six conversions to add to touchdowns from Matt Dyson, Ash Wood, Martin Tordoff, Mark Dunning, Ricky Helliwell, Mike Green and Ben Cousin.

Birkenshaw also enjoyed success 44-32 against Emley Moor at East Bierley.

Birky had the match in the bag when they led 28-12 at half-time and never surrendered the advantage, with tries from Dave Scriven (2), Ben Cousen, Andy Hirst, Richard Rhodes, Matt Honeysett, Ross Grattan, Benoit Rogers. Matt Honeysett kicked five goals and Hirst one.

Man of the match went to Grattan, with Rogers and Morton Robinson also in contention for the award.

Bank Top Harriers’ late surge up the Division Two table continued with a 22-12 home win against Dearne Valley, while Odsal Sedbergh won the Division Three derby at Dudley Hill A 12-8.

Wibsey A still have an outside chance of promotion from Division Five if other results work in their favour.

They beat Guiseley Rangers 42-22, with Jim Berkiss scoring four tries. Matt Cumberworth and Dom Kershaw also made the whitewash – as did captain Cameron Bishop, who converted all seven tries.
