Birkenshaw’s dreams of a cup upset were dashed in ruthless fashion by Slaithwaite Saracens.

An under-strength Birky side made a valiant effort in the PENNINE PRESIDENT’S CUP quarter-final tie but the Division One leaders proved too strong, winning 54-6.

Birky had hoped to get revenge for the previous week’s league defeat against Saracens but only had an Andy Hirst try and goal to show for a hard afternoon’s work.

Bank Top Harriers booked themselves an ANDREW BENNETT MEMORIAL TROPHY semi-final spot after beating West Leeds 22-6.

Former Keighley Cougars stand-off Adam Mitchell was man of the match, helping himself to a try and three goals along the way.

West Leeds paid for some gross indiscipline and saw two of their players dispatched to the dressing rooms, one for head-butting and the other for dissent.

But Bank Top kept their cool and tries from three-quarters Jason Gelder, Simon Giles and Mark Bailey leave them one step away from a prized final appearance.

Odsal Sedbergh A edged out Whitehall Warriors 10-8 in the PENNINE SUPPLEMENTARY CUP quarter-finals. Sedge scored tries through Lee Birkett and Josh Tordoff.

South Bradford were unable to overcome a strong New Earswick All Blacks A side, going down 38-8.

Queensbury were able to take advantage of Clayton’s 14-11 defeat at Ackworth Jaguars to go fourth in PENNINE LEAGUE Division One.

It was a good day for Bury, with rivals King Cross Park also losing at lowly Keighley Town.

The home side did not have it easy though against an Illingworth outfit desperately in need of points.

Joe Langford, Ben Naylor and Joe Swain all crossed for Bury, while Scott Swann helped himself to two goals in a 20-12 win.

Wibsey Warriors kept up their charge for promotion from Division Two as they demolished Moldgreen 50-12.

In Division Three, Odsal Sedbergh had too much firepower for bottom outfit Undercliffe, running out comfortable 46-6 winners.

Queensbury A got back to winning ways with a hard-fought 18-28 victory over King Cross Park A in Divison Five.

Mathew Wood was outstanding for Bury, while hooker Kennedy Timewell and winger Liam Murgatroyd grabbed two tries apiece.
