Birkenshaw are safely through to the first round of the JACK SENIOR MEMORIAL BRADFORD CUP following their 30-18 home win against Odsal Sedbergh.

Birky scored a total of five tries from Paul Bancroft, Jason Lee, Andy Hirst, Adam Lazenby and John Turpin.

Man of the match Karl Wroe kicked five goals with Ash Vanzie and Morton Robinson also making telling contributions against plucky Sedge, who are two divisions lower in the pecking order.

Although most of the PENNINE LEAGUE programme was postponed because of the weather, two Premier Division clashes escaped the deluge.

Clayton gave old rivals Drighlington a good run for their money before eventually losing out 12-6.

Drig took advantage of an injury to full back Danny Belcher and launched a speculative kick which led to the winner.

Ben Beevers crossed for Clayton and Belcher kicked a penalty.

Queensbury opened the scoring at New Earswick All Backs with a try by Callum Murgatroyd but that was unfortunately their sum total on the board as the home side finished the game 34-4 up.

Division Two title hopefuls Wyke pulled off a hard-earned 22-16 success at Thornhill Trojans.

The hosts scored first against the run of play before the Black and Whites responded through centre Ben Stirk to level the scores.

It was even for the rest of the half until the Trojans got their noses in front 12-6 at the break.

They increased the advantage with an unconverted try on the restart and looked to be coasting to victory.

Wyke scrum half Shaun Godfrey crossed out wide following a dummy and was on hand to poach a second when he backed up a 20-metre break from centre Alan Binns on the last tackle.

The conversion sailed over from Andy Patchett to level matters once more at 16-16 and, with five minutes to go, hooker Ian Watkinson burrowed in from the ruck for the winning score.

Coach Jason Hirst was full of praise for his men, saying: "It was a tremendous effort from all concerned but a special mention must go to Chris Hillam and Alan Binns, who had their best games since I took over the job."

Undefeated Wibsey Warriors moved four points clear at the top of Division Six after seeing off main rivals Grimethorpe 19-10 on their travels.

The Warriors overcame a big opposition outfit thanks to powerful performances from Mark Bean and Adam Bose.
