ODSAL Sedbergh, still searching for their first Championship One Division win of the Pennine League campaign, gave third-placed Bentley Good Companions a good run for their money before falling to a 34-12 defeat.
Sedge, who are clearly playing above their weight following the league's enforced divisional reorganisation, have shown true grit and immense character, despite being pitched against vastly stronger clubs.
The Doncaster hosts had the better of the opening exchanges before Odsal wingman Jared Priestley pegged them back when he intercepted a pass to run 75 metres to the whitewash for the best try of the afternoon.
The 18-6 half-time home advantage was further reduced following excellent work from Sedge half-backs Paul Bottomley and Scott Smith, which provided the opportunity for hooker Shaquille Jones to cross, leaving Jones to slot his second conversion.
Bentley's sheer physical size proved to be a major factor from the off as they ground out a winning total – notwithstanding a valiant effort from a belligerent Odsal pack, ably led by their man of the match, second-row forward Kris Fawthrop.
