QUEENSBURY will host West Bowling tomorrow in a Pennine League Premier Division derby after a week of surprise fixture changes.
The meeting of Bradford’s top two amateur sides was circulated earlier this month but the match was changed without explanation on Tuesday.
Bury were informed that they would be entertaining Fryston Warriors, while Bowling were told that they would now be at Sharlston Rovers.
When an explanation was sought from the Pennine management, the decision was quickly reversed and the original match reinstated.
Queensbury, who are still searching for their first win in the flagship competition, are taking events in their stride but coach Phil Gallagher did say: “We don’t know if we are coming or going sometimes this season.
"The team will be much the same that lost narrowly last week at Heysham Atoms in the BARLA National Cup, with the inclusion of centre Jason Gelder."
Bowling, who have enjoyed a week off, are searching for a double after posting a 40-12 win in November at Emsley's Rec.
They will look towards their sprightly young pack, led by prop Chris Anderson, to provide the platform for a repeat success.
Another derby in Division Two has Wibsey Warriors entertaining old rivals Wyke.
The Warriors, who are chugging along in mid-table, looked the part at times in last Saturday's Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy defeat at Victoria Rangers.
Centres Steve Redman and Paul Jennings gave their all, while giant packman Angus Parking is becoming a real danger.
Wyke's player-coach Warren Pitman is upbeat, following their vast improvement against high-flyers CK Vikings last time out, and said: “When we turn up in the correct frame of mind, we can compete with the best in our league.
"We know it's the little things like completion rates and poor discipline which are losing us the close games, and it's something we are looking to improve on."
In the Championship, Odsal Sedbergh are looking to break their duck at home to Allerton Bywater, while Victoria Rangers will be intent on lowering Division One promotion rivals West Leeds' colours for the first time this term.
The Vics are in their pomp at the moment, with the play-making duo of stand-off Josh Hattie and hooker Isaac Brown on fire, which could spell big trouble for the Leeds hosts who have a mean defensive record so far.
