WIBSEY Warriors were the only Bradford area side to beat the weather in the Pennine League.
They travelled to the Yorkshire-Lancashire border to face West Craven Warriors in a Division Two clash.
The Barnoldswick outfit's pitch, nestling in the countryside, held out where others failed, and Wibsey would be grateful for that by the end of the afternoon.
Wibsey coach Nick Walker initially set off with concerns over a side that were depleted to the point where he had to dust off his boots and take a prop's jersey himself.
However, he needn't have worried as the visitors played superbly throughout and ran out worthy 40-18 winners.
Walker helped himself to a brace of tries, while full back Jimmy Rodgers and hooker Brad Tattersall got a try apiece.
The scoring was rounded off for the visitors with four-pointers from scrum half Matt Cumberworth and Paul Jennings, with Cumberworth and Walker also landing three goals each.
The victory was a pleasing one for coach Walker, and meant that the Warriors leaped over Greetland All Rounders in the table to provide them with some mid-table security going into the Christmas break.
