Victoria Rangers 66 Wibsey Warriors A 14
In the Hudson Foster Cup final, Victoria Rangers ran out comfortable winners in a one-sided affair against Wibsey Warriors A.
Vics were on the scoreboard as early as the fourth minute and subsequently never looked back. Forward Martin Brannan found stand-off Elliot Hodgson in support and he raced in for the first of his four tries.
Hodgson scored his second before impressive hooker Isaac Brown dived over to the right of the posts to make it 14-0. Hodgson then pounced on a loose ball on 29 minutes to complete his hat-trick.
Next it was Hodgson’s kick through that allowed Liam Vasely to touch down before Hodgson again crossed to put the game out of reach of Wibsey by half-time.
Wibsey’s only first-half reply came from stand-off Lewis Barrett, who crossed under the posts, Mathew Cumberworth kicking the goal.
Vics extended their lead in the first minute of the second half when Brown made a break to give the supporting Aaron Levy a clear run to the line. Minutes later, Levy was in again when he ran practically the full length to dive over.
Wibsey narrowed the deficit to 36-10 when a move down the left was finished off by Chris Rodgers.
Vics increased their lead as first Brown crossed before prop Ashley Yarrow powered his way over.
Wibsey kept going and were rewarded when forward Alex Stevens found space out wide to go in at the corner.
Vics hit back to make it 52-14 thanks to Willie Woodhead’s effort and finished proceedings off in style when first Vasely raced the full length of the field, then Brown repeated the effort minutes later.
