Victoria Rangers completed a Pennine League double with a 30-12 Supplementary Cup success against Crofton Cougars at Batley RLFC on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Vics, who were unbeaten on their way to winning the Division Four championship, continued their remarkable run in a hard-fought encounter against a Crofton side that never gave up the ghost despite always being in arrears against a Rangers outfit inspired by the precision kicking game of stand-off Elliot Hodgson.
Tries from hooker Isaac Brown and Liam Vaseley gave Vics a 10-4 half-time lead. Aiden Scully posted a brace and two more goals after the break, with further solo efforts from Martin Southwell and Aaron Levy.
Hodgson was named as the man of the match, with young full back Jordon Walker also a strong contender.
Queensbury completed their Championship Division fixtures with a 26-26 home draw against Upton. The Pontefract visitors, who needed the points to keep pressure on leaders Methley Royals for the title, took no prisoners in a fiery first half that saw two players from each side dismissed from the field.
Bury led 10-6 at the interval following tries from hooker Greg Marriott and prop Tom Hainsworth together with a conversion from Joe Walker.
Both sides were reduced to ten men when a further two players earned a red card on the restart before Bury looked to be home and dry when they posted four unconverted tries up the slope.
Upton hit back in more ways than one to level matters to leave the Pennine disciplinary panel working overtime at their next meeting.
Wyke A finished their Division Seven campaign with a 16-12 home defeat against Greetland A. Rhys Smith and Mack Goodwin crossed for the black and whites with Brad Ellis tagging on the extras.
