Scrum half Liam Darville ran riot with a five-try haul as West Bowling outclassed Morley Borough in the opening round of the Pennine President's Cup at Emsleys Rec.
The lively half-back had his hat-trick on the board in 15 minutes, with only a converted effort from Morley’s Tyson Speight stemming the tide.
Darville added his fourth before handing over the reins to loose forward Richard Lumb, who crossed, leaving wingman Ben Heald to add his fifth conversion to put West’s into the interval 30-12 up.
Morley, who operate in Championship Division One, stuck to their task against the Premier Division hosts and managed to claw back some of the deficit when prop Sean Tate crossed the chalk.
Unfortunately, this spurred Darville to claim his fifth touchdown, soon followed by another six- pointer from centre Adam Reardon.
Heald, who had a splendid return with the boot, added the final nail in the coffin when he sprinted over late on to crown a classy home display.
Wibsey Warriors' Hamuel Reichenbacher Yorkshire Cup semi-final rehearsal did not go to plan when they fell to a 30-12 Premier Division defeat at Thornhill Trojans.
The Warriors mustered tries from hooker Mike Horrocks and half-back Ryan Smith, with Harold Hall and Simon Speight adding the extras.
Bank Top Harriers, who are still searching for an elusive first success of the campaign, came a cropper 50-6 at Queens.
Victoria Rangers kept their unbeaten Division Four record intact with a nail-biting 17-16 home win over West Bowling A.
The Vics, who have carried all before them so far this term, found themselves in a real old-fashioned tussle against one of the most experienced second strings in the Pennine League.
Bowling crossed three times from Brett Greenwood, Karl Spring and Reece Salt, with Greenwood and Max Trueman adding the conversions.
The Rangers replied through Aiden Batey, Luke Harps and Joe Egan, with Isaac Brown on target with the boot.
The all-important winner came from a late drop goal from Aiden Scully. West’s were well served by Nigel Halmshaw and Martin Tordoff, while Ash Yarrow and Harps earned the home plaudits.
Victoria Rangers A, who are playing friendlies this season, shared the spoils 22-22 at Moorends Thorne Marauders.
Rob Stones (2), Dom Christy and Alex Scott, with a solo try and three conversions, made the scoresheet.
