Birkenshaw sailed into the second round of the Pennine President’s Cup with a hefty 42-12 success against St Josephs at East Bierley.
The Huddersfield side, who had posted a half-century of points over Birky in the league encounter, were run ragged in a blistering first-half salvo that saw the tie well and truly over at 30-4 by the interval whistle.
Birky half-back Nathan Kitson enjoyed his best game of the season, posting a try before his enforced departure with a knee injury, while Ben Nabozny (2), Matt Honeysett, Damian Smith, Tony Aubrey and Trevor West made the whitewash as well.
The forceful victory also marked the last game for Neil Cherryholme before his return to Keighley Cougars and for Jarrod Ward, who has signed for Halifax.
Bank Top Harriers turned the Pennine League form book upside down to give Premier Division high-fliers Drighlington a real tussle before falling 16-10 in a thriller.
The basement side pounced twice through Jason Gelder and Cameron Nelson, both converted by Adam Mitchell.
Simon Giles was the Harriers’ best player on the day but the big talking point was the three disallowed tries which thwarted Bank Top’s chance of registering a first win of the season.
Queensbury fell to a surprise 26-8 Championship Division defeat at King Cross Park, with only an Andy Walker try and two goals from Joe Flanagan to show for their efforts.
In Division One, the 60-16 scoreline at Wyke failed to reflect the black and whites’ commitment against high-flying Doncaster Toll Bar.
Wyke hit the front when Duane Platt danced over and they were 10-8 up on the quarter-time mark with a further converted score from old soldier Warren Pitman.
Toll Bar, who have only lost once this term, took all their chances but a second-half effort from Aaron Priestley raised home hopes at 22-16, only for the visitors to then cut loose.
West Bowling A beat Dearne Valley Bulldogs 42-20 at Emsleys Rec in Division Four.
Jason Marshall was the star of the show, collecting a hat-trick, with Phil Munro, Ben Cousen and Glen Barraclough contributing solo efforts. Brett Greenwood also made a hefty impact, crossing twice and adding five conversions.
Odsal Sedbergh A recorded the biggest win in the club’s history with a 76-0 tally over Moorends A in Division Seven.
Lee Birkett recorded a hat-trick and there was a brace each for Jared Priestley, Andy Gabriel, Kris Fawthrop and Alex Jackson, while Kaine McEwan, Simon Knowles and Jonny Ward also made the chalk.
