Wibsey Warriors were unlucky to lose 29-22 at home to second-placed Premier Division rivals Queens in the Pennine League.

The Warriors looked to be heading for a heavy defeat when they trailed 26-4 at the interval but a second-half rally saw Andy Carman, Mike Horrocks and Ryan Smith reach the whitewash.

Scrum half Simon Sewell weighed in with a try and three conversions as Wibsey dominated proceedings, only to run out of time as the visitors hung on to claim the points.

Keighley edged to a 26-24 home win in their Championship Division promotion chase against fellow high-fliers Bank Top Harriers.

The Harriers were in splendid form, with centres Craig French and Cam Nelson both scoring twice and stand-off Adam Mitchell completing the total with a try and two conversions as they narrowly failed to lower the title contenders’ colours.

Birkenshaw looked to be on course for a well-earned Division One victory when they established a 12-6 lead at Morley Borough following converted touchdowns from Paul Riley and Shaun Godfrey.

But the match was abandoned shortly before half-time when a Morley player allegedly assaulted the referee, which will result in a full enquiry by the league’s discipline committee.

Undercliffe Wildboars stand-off Ryan Dixon was the star of the show with four tries in a 34-14 win at Kellingley Welfare which secured promotion from Division Four.

There were further tries from Danny Dixon and Chris Rafferty, who also produced an impeccable goal-kicking display.

West Bowling A must now win their last two games in order to overtake the three sides above them and finish as Division Six champions following a 40-18 loss at second-placed Sherburn Bears.

Ben Cousen, Phil Munro and Glenn Barraclough reached the chalk, all converted by the boot of John Simpson.
