Wibsey Warriors got back to winning ways in the Pennine League with a 24-18 Friday night victory over Halifax Irish in the Premier Division.
First-half scores by Neil Sutcliffe and Ryan Smith were cancelled out by a Jack Holmes effort and 14 points from former Salford professional Andrew Brocklehurst as Wibsey went in at the interval 18-10 down.
But it was a much improved Warriors side that came out firing in the second period, with hooker Kyle Carter spotting a gap close to the line to burrow over and reduce the arrears before centre Nick Fontaine grabbed a double to secure the points.
West Bowling A moved through to the Supplementary Cup final thanks to a 28-10 win at Slaithwaite Saracens.
Hooker Glenn Barraclough posted Bowling’s only try of the first half but they ensured their first chance of silverware in six years with further efforts from Gavin Wilkinson, Brett Greenwood, Max Trueman and Matthew Tumelty. Brett Greenwood landed four conversions.
