Keighley Cougars have signed former Dudley Hill product Richie Barnett from Hunslet Hawks.
The winger, who was suspended from the game for two years in February 2008 after testing positive for a banned substance, has Super League experience with Hull FC, Warrington Wolves and Salford City Reds.
He was also part of the Jamaica squad, along with Cougar players Jamaine Wray and Jy-mel Coleman, which missed out on 2013 World Cup qualification recently.
Cougars coach Jason Demetriou said: “Richie brings size, power and speed to our three quarter line. I am excited to have Richie on board and am looking forward to seeing him in a Cougars shirt next season.”
Barnett, who played for Sheffield Eagles after his suspension before joining Hawks, becomes Cougars’ sixth signing since winning promotion back to the Championship.
They have also snapped up Super League prop Michael Korkidas, Paul March, Neil Cherryholme, Welsh international Danny Jones and Lewis Reed.
Barnett (pictured) was banned after providing a sample which was found to contain an elevated testosterone/epitestosterone ratio while playing for Warrington against Salford in April 2007.
