Former Wakefield prop Michael Korkidas has signed a one-year deal with Keighley Cougars.
As they gear up for their return to the Championship, player-coach Jason Demetriou has moved quickly to bolster his squad following the club’s thumping win over Workington in the Championship 1 play-off final earlier this month.
Demetriou has also brought half-back Danny Jones back to Cougar Park from Halifax, recruited Paul March from Hunslet and signed Halifax forward Neil Cherryholme.
But persuading Korkidas to sign is the biggest coup of the lot.
The 30-year-old prop, who enjoyed two stints at Wakefield and spells with Salford, Castleford and Huddersfield, said: “I am really excited and looking forward to wearing the Cougar colours.
“I have known JD for a long time and the opportunity to team up with him and the squad at Keighley Cougars is one that I will relish.
“The passion I saw at the Grand Final by the Cougars fans made my decision easy and I can’t wait to play in front of them.”
