Cougars head coach Barry Eaton believes victory at home to Workington Town on Sunday should see them qualify for the Northern Rail Cup knock-out stages.
After securing two wins from their two games so far, Keighley are in pole position in Pool One, with the top four teams qualifying for the quarter-finals.
“I’ve been maniacally looking at the other fixtures to try and work out the possibilities,” said Eaton.
“It looks like it’s going to be any four from six teams at the moment, with us, Whitehaven, Batley, Widnes, Barrow and Swinton all in with a chance.
“By my reckoning, if we win on Sunday that will just about secure us a knock-out place.”
But Eaton has warned his side against complacency.
Having done the hard work in defeating Championship rivals Whitehaven 17-16 last week, they cannot afford to take it easy against their Championship One visitors on Sunday.
Eaton said: “We’ve got to be careful we don’t relax this week.
“Hindsight’s a wonderful thing but maybe that’s why we were a little bit flat in our first Cup game at Blackpool.
“With no disrespect to them, we knew the Whitehaven game would be the yardstick to see how we would perform against a Championship rival.”
Eaton is faced with a welcome problem ahead of the Cumbrians’ visit.
After his players came through Sunday’s game relatively unscathed, Eaton could have the luxury of a fully-fit squad to choose from for the first time.
Chris Baines is ready to go following an abductor strain and Carl Hughes should be fit, while winter signings Sam Crowther and Jamie Shepherd are both pushing their cases for inclusion.
Eaton said: “We’ve not picked up any serious problems from the game so it’s possible we’ll have the same 17 available for Sunday.”
Meanwhile, Cougars are still waiting for official confirmation from the Rugby Football League on the extent of the points deduction they will face for going into administration.
