Cougars chief Barry Eaton sees no reason why his side can't complete a double over Workington on Sunday.

They head to Cumbria on the back of an excellent victory over Swinton and knowing they shocked Workington 32-22 when the sides met in Keighley two months ago.

"One of our best performances of the season was when we beat Workington at home and they'll probably still be smarting from that," said Eaton.

"They are right in there in the top four, will be looking to secure a home play-off place and are pretty formidable up there, so it'll be a tough task this weekend.

"But London Skolars did go and defeat them up there a couple of weeks ago, so that's encouraging, and if we execute our game plan right, stop their big forwards getting on a roll, hopefully we'll be able to play some football again ourselves.

"We're starting to see signs of some good, dry weather and that suits our style of play. It's a big, open pitch at Workington as well and if we can defend like we did against Swinton, I'm sure we'll have opportunities."

Gateshead, who lie just below tenth-placed Cougars, also ran Workington close last week, narrowly missing out 36-32.

Eaton may be missing second-rower Greg Nicholson - who signed a new contract on Wednesday - after he hobbled off with an ankle injury against Swinton.

However, prop Luke Sutton is primed to return to a squad which is full of confidence following their excellent ten-try dismantling of Swinton.

One of the try-scorers last week was impressive young centre Oliver Pursglove, who will continue to fill the left-hand berth with Mick Fogerty out injured.

Eaton was high in praise for the former Sale Sharks three-quarter, who notched his first four-pointer for the club.

"It was only his second game and he'd signed a new contract in the week before but I thought he was outstanding," said Eaton.

"His defence was pretty awesome. He's got a great presence about him and some good size and that showed.

"Ollie probably just needs to work on his sharpness but when he gets a full pre-season under him I'm sure he'll get even bigger, better and stronger.

"His try was fantastic the way he jumped, took the ball in one hand, transferred it to the other before landing and then handed off his opposite number.

"He also created plenty for Alex (Brown) on the wing and I was really pleased for him.

"Hopefully he can cement his place between now and the end of the season and get some valuable experience."
