York City Knights 34, Keighley Cougars 8

The Cougars' ill-discipline cost them again as they crashed 34-8 at York City Knights this afternoon.

Barry Eaton's side suffered their sixth defeat in National League Two and penalties were the root of their demise.

Second-rower Richard Knight reckons the Cougars are consistently getting harshly judged by officials.

"I never saw the penalty count but it must have been over double theirs," he said.

"Some are going against us 50-50 but I've been here a year and a half now and other decisions just seem to be against Keighley.

"But, whatever the reason, we're conceding too many and that cost us really today.

"We looked good early on and looked in contention but then some poor decisions on our behalf and missed tackles saw us go behind."

Cougars, who still only have one win, took the lead with an Eaton penalty themselves but trailed 12-2 at the break.

After the turnaround, despite loose forward Chris Redfearn's try on the hour mark, their hosts eased clear.

York scored tries though Lee Maples, Rob Spicer, Danny Grimshaw, a 90-metre interception effort from Alex Godfrey and Neil Lowe, who Eaton tried to sign a fortnight ago.

Keighley handed a debut to Australian Craig Weston, the former Huddersfield Giant coming off the bench with around a quarter to go, but he couldn't halt the slide after Knight had already limped off at the break with an on-going calf problem.
