A Talent Ndlovu brace ensured Eccleshill United claimed their first three points of the season in a dominant 4-1 victory at home to Tadcaster Albion on Saturday.

All four goals came in a 22-minute second-half blitz as Lee Elam’s side came out of the blocks firing after the interval.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 50th minute through Fredy Barnard, who reacted quickest to poke the ball home after the visiting keeper had pushed away a cross.

Matthias Britton was next on the scoresheet for the hosts, before Ndlovu scored a quickfire brace, one from the penalty spot, to send Eccleshill into a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Barnard was then given his marching orders for taking his man out extremely late, which saw him collect a second yellow card.

The visitors did pull one back in the 90th minute from the penalty spot, but it was too little, too late for Albion to muster a comeback.

Elsewhere in the NCEL Premier Division, Albion Sports, Silsden and Thackley were all in action on Friday evening.

Albion fell to a 2-1 defeat at Bottesford Town despite leading 1-0 through an Eisa Faulding strike in the 25th minute.

Back came the hosts, however, through Aristides Cunha who struck either side of the half-time break to seal the win for his side.

And Silsden, who have started the season strongly, put in a fine performance to seal a comfortable 3-0 victory over local rivals, Thackley.

Just like Eccleshill did in their game against Tadcaster, Silsden performed a second-half blitz to dispatch their opponents.

The first came in the 56th minute, and what a strike it was.

Kayle Price flicked a header into the path of Ellis Hudson, and he unleashed a ferocious half volley to put his side ahead.

And just eight minutes later Price turned from provider to goal getter, as he shifted the ball onto his left foot and made no mistake in doubling his side’s advantage.

Luke Brooksbank put the gloss on a positive second-half display by following up a blocked effort to stab his side into a 3-0 lead.

The Cobbydalers currently sit in 4th place after three matches, while Eccleshill have moved up to 7th, who travel to Thackley tomorrow evening.

Albion Sports also travel to take on Silsden, whilst Campion host Golcar United.

In the NWCFL, things are going from bad to worse for Steeton.

They remain without a win in their opening five Division One North fixtures having been thrashed 6-1 at Droylsden.

A Joel Ankers hat-trick inspired the hosts to victory, while a first-half Kyle Hancock penalty was Steeton’s only answer.

Route One Rovers fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Ashton Athletic on Saturday.

The only goal came through Ethan Pearce with five minutes of normal time remaining.
