Silsden superbly triumphed 2-0 over Northern Premier League East Division side Liversedge in the FA Cup extra preliminary round on Saturday afternoon.

In a spirited performance at the Clayborn Stadium, the away side took a surprise lead on the verge of half time through Kayle Price.

Despite Sedge creating a number of chances, the Sils defence stood firm to keep them out.

They were rewarded for their efforts when Casey Stewart volleyed home a second goal on 77 minutes to see the Northern Counties East League Premier Division side through to the next round.

And there was more success for Bradford District sides in the famous old competition on Saturday, as Campion and Thackley both made it through too.

Both were playing fellow NCEL Premier Division sides, and Campion left it late to seal their progress.

They hosted Parkgate and were given a tough game by their visitors, highlighted by the fact that home defender Ethan Crossley was forced to produce a man-of-the-match display.

But it was the Red and Blacks who scored the only goal of the game, a delightful finish from Aidan Kirby on 84 minutes proving the difference.

Campion were joined in the preliminary round by Thackley, who won 2-0 at home to Frickley Athletic.

The Dennyboys went in front on the stroke of half-time, Ben Grech-Brooksbank hammering home a penalty.

And they sealed victory with 10 minutes to go, James Holcombe finishing nicely after some great build up play from Finn Donovan.

And the excellent Donovan was brought down late on by the last man, meaning hapless Frickley went down to 10 men and bowed out of the FA Cup with a whimper.

Eccleshill United are still in the FA Cup, but they will have to go again on Wednesday night, after drawing their extra preliminary round tie 1-1 at Vauxhall Motors.

Matthias Britton put the visitors in front midway through the first half, but Motors equalised on the hour mark.

Albion Sports are the one Bradford side who are out at the first hurdle however.

They were at home to Trafford on Friday night, and their chances of going through blew up in the space of two minutes at the end of the second half.

They conceded twice to enter the break 2-0 down, and Sumaili Cissa’s late penalty to halve the deficit proved to be a mere consolation for Albion.

Brighouse Town, like Eccleshill, will have a home replay on Wednesday night, after they played out a goalless draw at Barnoldswick Town on Saturday afternoon.

Bradford District duo Route One Rovers and Steeton play in the 10th tier of English football, in the North West Counties Football League First Division North, so are not eligible to enter the FA Cup.

That meant both were in league action on Saturday instead, with Rovers slumping to the bottom of the table with a 4-1 defeat at Thronton Cleveleys.

The visitors took a lead into the break thanks to a goal from Umar Ali, but they completely collapsed late on, conceding four times in 10 minutes to lose heavily.

Steeton moved themselves off the foot of the division with a 1-1 home draw against Ashton Town, which they sealed thanks to a late headed equaliser from Adam Hartley.
