ECCLESHILL United threw away a one-goal lead as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at Knaresborough Town on Tuesday evening.
After taking the lead through Cole Roberts in the 2nd minute of the contest the Eagles were unable to deter their clinical opponents from then on.
Lee Elam’s side were looking to bounce back from last Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Hallam, and they made the perfect start when Roberts rifled a shot into the top corner of Knaresborough’s goal after only two minutes.
The visitors were buoyed by their fast start and were eager to push on and double their advantage, and they had an opportunity to do that only ten minutes later.
After a free-flowing move down the right-hand side, the ball was played into the box, but the onrushing Eagles man didn’t connect properly and rolled his shot straight into the keeper’s arms.
With half-time closing in the hosts levelled the scores through Jack Dyche who was on hand to score his first goal for the club after a shot had been parried by Eccleshill’s No1.
In the second half Dyche then turned provider to feed a low ball into the box, where Ewan Gregson was waiting to sweep home.
Knaresborough’s third came deep into stoppage time of the second half to wrap up the three points for the hosts.
After working the ball up to Thewlis down the right channel, he squared the ball to Ingham who made no mistake in sealing the victory for the hosts.
Elsewhere in the NCEL Premier Division, Silsden claimed a 2-1 home victory against Rossington Main yesterday evening.
Ellis Hudson broke the deadlock for the hosts just before the break, but the visitors drew level shortly after the interval.
But Casey Stewart was on hand to earn his side the three points with a winner in the 57th minute.
The victory has seen Silsden rise to 7th in the table.
