CAMPION let a two-goal lead slip as Ponte Colls FC from behind to progress through to the County Cup semi-final last night.
The visitors raced into a two-goal lead inside 28 minutes, but the hosts battled valiantly to flip the game on its head and book their spot in the final four of the competition.
After netting a brace against Handsworth at the weekend, Patrick Sykes was on hand to give Campion the lead in the tie after meeting a corner at the near post to flick his side in front.
The Bradford side’s evening got better on minute 28 when Nathan Cartman pounced on several Ponte errors to put his side into a comfortable lead at 2-0, or so they thought.
Colls were in no mood to let the visitors pull away, and they soon halved the deficit through a Bailey Thompson strike.
A great move saw Boyle spread the ball wide to Chorlton, who did brilliantly to get passed his man and find the onrushing Thompson to convert at the near post.
With half-time closing in the hosts levelled things up. A Sinfield cross evaded everyone and there was Chorlton to tap in at the back post.
To make matters worse for the visitors, Ponte found the winner with three minutes of normal time remaining to condemn Campion to late heartbreak.
Captain Jack Greenhough rose highest to bundle home a free-kick and send the home crowd berzerk, as the hosts held on to a 3-2 victory.
Up next for Campion is home fixture against Barton Town on Saturday with the game getting underway at 3pm.
Elsewhere, Silsden claimed a 4-0 victory at home to Handsworth on Tuesday evening in the NCEL Premier Division
