WEST RIDING County Cup holders Liversedge are through to the semi-finals of this year's competition.

But they were made to work for their place, eventually winning 4-2 at plucky Horbury Town.

Horbury play their football three tiers below Sedge, but for the most part they kept in touch with their loftier opponents.

The hosts would have been frustrated with Sedge's first goal, as a goalkeeping error from Paul Hagreen gifted Kurt Harris the chance to put the Northern Premier League Premier Division side in front.

But Horbury were not knocked off their stride by Harris' opener, equalising on 37 minutes when an Abdul Asamoah strike flew into the corner of the net.

Nathan Cartman gave Sedge the advantage once again, when he scored right on the stroke of half-time.

Horbury were not done, and they levelled for a second time when Sam Kyeremeh produced a superb finish around the hour mark.

Sedge have been here before though, and they showed their class in the last 15 minutes to wrap up the victory.

Harris scored for a second time to put the visitors back in front for a third time, before Nicky Walker netted a late fourth to finally put an end to the Northern Counties East League Division One side's challenge.

Sedge are the third side through to this year's County Cup semi-finals, joining Campion and Barnoldswick Town, who beat Brighouse Town and Golcar United respectively on Tuesday night, in the last four.

The last quarter-final is between Albion Sports and their landlords Farsley Celtic at The Citadel next Tuesday.
