IT was another thoroughly miserable weekend for the majority of our non-league clubs.

With City's home game against Carlisle off, it was the same scenario for the several of their Bradford counterparts.

Only Bradford (Park Avenue) and Steeton played on Saturday out of all of our teams, both impressing in 1-1 draws against Kidderminster Harriers and Chadderton respectively.

Eccleshill United were left the most frustrated, as their marquee FA Vase fourth round tie at home to AFC Liverpool was called off for the second Saturday in a row.

The game has been rescheduled for this coming weekend, so hopefully it is a case of third time lucky.

Thackley were also due to be at home, with Dennyfield the venue for their match against Garforth Town in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, but a failed pitch inspection at 9:30am put paid to any hopes of that game going ahead.

The Dennyboys' Bradford rivals, and fellow NCEL Premier Division strugglers, Albion Sports suffered the same fate, with their game at Hallam also frozen off.

Silsden have now gone well over two months without a home game, with their promotion battle against visiting Barton Town postponed on Saturday.

In Division One of the NCEL, runaway leaders Campion missed out on the chance to increase their grip on the title, as their home encounter with Staveley Miners Welfare was called off.

But neighbours Steeton did get their North West Counties Football League First Division North game on, with the artificial surface at Marley working wonders once again, just four days after it hosted their 1-1 draw against South Liverpool.

It was a fine effort from Roy Mason's play-off chasers on Saturday, given visiting Chadderton sit second in the table.

In Arctic and foggy conditions, both sides produced a real spectacle, with chances at either end in the opening 30 minutes, including a goal for Steeton's Luke Baldwin being disallowed for offside.

It was the hosts who took the lead on the half-hour mark, Toby Jeffrey hitting the post and the prolific Andy Briggs turning home the rebound.

Briggs hit the woodwork twice in the opening 15 minutes of the second half, and Chadderton seemed to take heart from those let-offs, having a shot cleared off the line before equalising through Adam Dale with 20 minutes to go.

Both sides were restricted to half-chances in the closing stages and had to settle for a point apiece.

Brighouse Town's home game with Sheffield FC in the Northern Premier League East Division was postponed due to a frozen pitch, meaning the pair both remain in mid-table.

In the NPL Premier Division, relegation-haunted Liversedge's home game with Lancaster City fell by the wayside, as did Guiseley's trip to Matlock Town.

Farsley Celtic's home game with Brackley Town in National League North was frozen off, but Avenue battled through the fog at Kidderminster Harriers in the same division to claim a 1-1 draw.

Jordan Preston's first-half goal for the visitors was cancelled out by a fine overhead kick late on from Kiddy's Amari Morgan-Smith.

The draw moved Avenue three points clear of the drop in 17th, while the result saw Kidderminster fall to 15th.
