CHRISTMAS may be almost four weeks away, but the present all Campion fans want looks almost wrapped up already.
A sensational 6-1 win at play-off chasing Retford United in Division One of the Northern Counties East League means they remain 11 points clear at the summit, with two games in hand on nearest rivals Horbury Town.
It could have been an even better weekend for the Bradford side, but Horbury overturned a half-time deficit to win 3-2 at home to lowly Beverley Town.
But the way Campion are playing, it seemingly does not matter what Horbury or any of the other title chasers do.
Retford had won five of their last six league games heading into Saturday's clash, but they were obliterated by their visitors, who were already 4-0 up by the break.
Marcus Day scored a 14-minute hat-trick, taking his tally to an incredible 23 for the season already.
As if that wasn't enough for the prolific marksman, he also set up Paddy Sykes for Campion's other first-half goal.
Retford were no pushovers, and having kept visiting keeper Brad Emmerson busy all afternoon, they finally grabbed a deserved goal on the hour mark.
But Aidan Kirby put Campion 5-1 up from the spot, before Sykes grabbed his second of the game, and 17th of the season, in the last minute.
The Red and Blacks confirmed the signing of Kieran Suddards this morning, and he scored in his final game for Thackley on Saturday.
But Suddards' effort was not enough to stop the Dennyboys sliding to a 3-2 defeat at West Yorkshire rivals Golcar United.
Thackley now have just one point from their last six league games, and now find themselves just four points above the NCEL Premier Division drop zone.
They conceded in the first minute, and were 3-0 down after two quickfire goals early in the second half.
A Tom Greaves penalty and Suddards' late strike gave the scoreline some respectability, but they were unable to score again to earn a draw.
Eccleshill United are starting to find some form again, and are unbeaten in three games in the league, after securing a superb 2-1 win at high-flying Winterton Rangers on Saturday.
An own-goal put the visitors in front, before Matthew Sykes put them 2-0 up with a fine free-kick on the hour mark.
Winterton halved the deficit with 20 minutes to go, but despite creating some good chances, they were unable to conjure up an equaliser.
There was disappointment for fifth-placed Silsden, whose game at home to Bottesford Town was postponed due to standing water on the pitch.
Albion Sports had a free weekend, but play in the only midweek NCEL top-flight game, at Penistone Church on Wednesday night.
In-form Steeton took a point from a six-goal thriller at promotion-chasing Holker Old Boys in the North West Counties Football League First Division North.
The hosts took an early lead, but the Chevrons turned the game on its head with two goals in as many minutes from the prolific Andy Briggs.
Holker equalised just before the break, before Arale Mohamed put Steeton back in front midway through the second half.
But the hosts showed why they are sitting pretty in the league, a late goal earning them a point.
Brighouse Town are up to 12th in the Northern Premier League East Division after thumping Consett 4-1.
Visiting Town were 3-0 up at half-time, with a Laurence Sorhaindo double, including one from the spot, sandwiching a Jack Boyle goal.
But when Corey Gregory was sent off early in the second half, and Brig conceded from the resulting penalty, things looked a little hairy.
Consett failed to make their man advantage count beyond that though, and Callum Charlton netted a late fourth goal for the visitors.
Liversedge are now just four points from safety in the NPL Premier Division, and they dragged near-neighbours Guiseley into the relegation battle with a 2-1 home win over the troubled Lions on Saturday.
Joe Walton put Sedge in front, before Jake Cassidy equalised for Guiseley just before the break.
The former won the game for the hosts with 20 minutes to go though, as Sedge finally won their first league game of the season at Clayborn.
Guiseley are now just two points off the drop, and are facing the very real prospect of a second successive relegation.
They were a National League North side like Bradford (Park Avenue) and Farsley Celtic just six months ago, though the latter are also in danger of dropping out of that division.
They were not in action at the weekend, but with relegation rivals Avenue winning, and fellow strugglers Kettering Town and Blyth Spartans drawing, the Celts are now four points from safety.
