Gareth Lee continues to dominate events with extraordinary all-round performances as Menston push for promotion from Aire-Wharfe League Division Three at the first attempt.
With Colton building up an almost unassailable lead, reinforced by a comfortable win over Alwoodley, Menston are in a battle for second spot with Tong Park Esholt, with Illingworth still having an outside chance.
Lee picked up 5-38 and then smashed 106 not out in 119 balls as Menston crushed the often-dangerous New Rover to make it four wins in a row, during which the former Calverley all-rounder has scored 333 runs with only one dismissal and taken 14 wickets at the cost of just 151 runs.
Tong Park Esholt refuse to be shaken off and they too had star performers in beating Woodhouse, Gareth Wilkinson hitting 101 in 90 balls and Nadeem Hanif following up his unbeaten half-century with 5-19, taking his wicket haul over the last three weeks to 14.
Illingworth kept alive their hopes by bowling out Skipton for 74, of which Zarshad Khan scored 34, while Horsforth’s miserable season continued, dismissed for 77 as Hall Park took local bragging rights, Jonathan Postle taking 4-23.
Ricky Palacio returned 6-25 as Silsden were restricted to 137 but Addingham’s batting faltered and they were dismissed for 120.
Division One front-runners Beckwithshaw and second-placed Collingham both won but Burley stayed within seven points of the leaders with victory over relegation-threatened Ben Rhydding.
Charlie Swallow (42) and Robbie Miller (36) helped Ben Rhydding to a promising 81-2 but then Neil Davis (4-31) and Ed Brown (4-3) got to work and the visitors were all out for 122, a total David Brook (49) and Brown (44) made sure Burley reached.
Nasser Jamal (4-22) helped restrict Steeton to 163 but he was their top scorer, batting nine, with 19 as Jonathan Best (3-29) and Stephen Pearson (4-33) skittled Thackley out for 83.
Josh Nelson’s good form continued with 74 in Guiseley’s 180-9 but there was no denying Otley after Sam Smith (42) and Jonathan Hughes (96no) put on 119 for the first wicket.
Davin Charleston (56no) top scored in Green Lane’s 117, and even though Harden lost six wickets in the chase, they picked up all six points to stay top of Division Two.
Rawdon could only manage two points at North Leeds, restricted to 163-8 in reply to the home side’s 212-8, and with Pool comfortably beating Olicanian, they climb above Rawdon into second place.
Andrew Clarke (106no) hit his best score for Bolton Villas, and their 195-6 proved too much for Calverley thanks to Mike Oldfield (4-25) and Sam Lawrence, whose 4-55 was the fifth time he has taken four or better this season.
Calverley remain just above the relegation zone thanks to Ilkley crushing Upper Wharfedale.
Alex Bailey (119no) and Rory Kroon (75) starred in a season best 264-4 before Jeremy Batty (4-18) and Luke Bott (3-41) scythed through the visitors’ batting.
