All four teams with a chance of taking the Mewies Solicitors Craven League Division One title triumphed last weekend.

Leaders Haworth made the short journey to Wynn Cup winners Cullingworth and put the skids under the Roydwood Terrace side by bowling them out for 101, with Richard Ellis taking 4-24 and Gary Binns 4-47.

The Bronte outfit also found it hard to score runs before they got home by four wickets in the 26th over. Dan Trowers top-scored with 31 and Peter Gower made 26.

Two points behind Haworth are Crossflatts, who demolished hosts Airedale in a 25-overs-per-side thrash.

The home side made 115-9, with Imran Zaman scoring 54 as A Saeed took 4-18 and Amer Ayub 3-39.

Ayub then made a brisk 62 as the Ryshworth Park side cruised to the spoils with nine overs to spare.

Third-placed Haworth Road posted a modest 124-9 at Barrowford, with Inayatt Ullah top-scoring with 33 as Ajmal Choudhry took 3-30 and Danny Jones 3-45.

The Bull Holme side were hustled out for just 58 in reply, Ullah being chief destroyer with 7-27 and Mohammed Zahid providing back-up with 3-20. There were seven ducks in the home side’s innings.

Title outsiders Oakworth put their Wynn Cup disappointment behind them as they trounced Ingrow by nine wickets.

The Hainworth Wood Road side were knocked over for 107, with Tony Crook making 28 as the wickets were shared among four bowlers.

Jack Hainsworth and Robert Hopkinson put on 66 for the first wicket before the former went for 24. Hopkinson went on to make 69 not out as the Cure Hill side cruised home by nine wickets in the 20th over.

Thornton as good as secured their top-flight status after they overcame Bradley by 72 runs at Booth Bridge Lane.

Jack Laycock (76), J Greenwood (38) and Dave Scothern (35) helped the hosts to 229-6 as Matt Buckmaster took 3-40.

The South Craveners closed on 157, with Neil Andrews scoring 52, Neil Robinson 41 and Chris Capstick 37. Jason Lockley claimed 4-42 and Laycock 3-53.

Bottom side Embsay side were in the driving seat in their must-win game at Bingley Congs.

They reduced the Beckfoot side to 96-9 before a crucial last-wicket partnership of 21 by Dave Tarren and Tim Summers pushed the score to 117 as Stephen Speak took 5-30 and Duncan Ward 4-46.

The Shires Laners were 63-0 before calamity struck as they lost all ten wickets for just 35 to lose by 20 runs. Aidey Dibb led the fightback with 4-31 and Tony Teale provided good support with 3-13.

It now looks like two from Ingrow, Airedale and Embsay for relegation.

A first-wicket stand of 212 between Paul Stowell and Matt Taylor helped Long Lee to a crushing 181-run victory at home to Glusburn, which boosted their hopes of Division Two survival.


The mammoth effort from Stowell (114) and Taylor (96) laid the platform for the Golden View side’s huge total of 317-4, Richard Ayrton also weighing in with 48 not out.


Mark Pickles took 3-57 off 16 overs for Glusburn, who stuttered to 136 all out in reply as Karl Sampson made 45. Victory moved Long Lee up to fourth from bottom.


Foulridge continue to head the division after they visited Cononley and came away victorious by five wickets.


The home side could only make 120-9, with Andy Dutton taking 4-39 and David Spokes 4-27, and the total proved insufficent.


Ingrow St John’s are level on points with Foulridge but behind on games won. They dismissed visitors Riddlesden for 106 before passing that target with five wickets to spare.


Third-placed Cowling slipped further behind after they went down by ten runs at Oakworth II. Brannan Lawn (77) and Steve Powell (53) helped the Cure Hill side to 209-7 in their overs.


The evergreen Jeff Inman spun his way to 6-63 off 14 overs to help restrict the home side to 199-7 after Graham Rishton (54) and Mike Dudley (44) had put on 99 for the first wicket.


Sutton, who had aspirations of a late surge to clinch promotion, were humbled at home by Wilsden. They were shot out a measly 43 in 27 overs.


Only Si Doane (15) reached double figures as D Mistry took 7-23 and Stuart Wilson 3-21. The Windy Grove side cruised home by seven wickets in 15.3 overs, with Mistry making 23no.


Pendle Forest were made to work hard before seeing off Sandy Lane by two wickets at Fence. The defeat leaves the Greenwood Park side firmly anchored to the bottom of the table.


The visitors were dumped out for 104, with L Crowther making 32 as Andy Townsend claimed 5-16 and John Cant 3-25.


The hosts battled their way to victory by two wickets, with Alex Summerscales making 29 not out and George Coward 23 not out as Matthew Roberts took 4-27.


A super knock of 109 not out, including eight sixes and eight fours, by Isaac Murray helped second-placed Denholme to a 151-run victory over Ingrow St John’s II in Division Three.


They made 255-6, aided by Richard Taylor (49) and Adam Taylor (37), before Luke Pickles claimed 5-50 as the Saints closed on 104.


Leaders Barrowford II dismissed hosts Haworth Road II for just 51 and won by seven wickets, despite being 4-3.


Third-placed Haworth West End travelled to Crossflatts II and hammered them by 168 runs. Joe Bottomley (90) and Andy Benfield (40no) were the main contributors to the Bronte side’s impressive 235-8 as Mick Bailey took 5-65.


The ten-man Ryshworth Park side were torn apart by Corey Benfield (5-42) and Joe Holt (3-9) as they subsided to 67 all out.


Embsay II complete the top four after figuring in an entertaining game with Skipton CI at Shires Lane.

The home side plundered 232-6, with Nev Allan leading the way on 70. The visitors made a good fist of their reply, with Steve Davidson top-scoring on 37 before a defiant last-wicket partnership of 34 between Paul Smith and Chris Windle extended CI’s total to 185 all out.


John Beckwith (60 and 5-19) and Will Smith (72no and 2-16) were the stars of Gargrave’s 124-run victory over Chatburn at Skipton Road.



Riddlesden II pulled off a Houdini act in Division Four as they recovered from 16-4 to reach
128-7 and beat Ingrow at Grange Road,  Darren Shields making 52 not out. Earlier, Nick Crook had made 55 as the Hainworth side scored 127-9.


Leaders Wilsden II have one hand firmly on the title after receiving three points when Airedale II were unable to raise a side.


They are eight points clear of second-placed Bradford & Bingley III, who lost by just six runs at Haworth II.


The Bronte hosts plundered 217-4, led by a brilliant knock of 131 not out from Ben Bright. The Wagon Lane side were in trouble at 107-7 before Ryan Baines (29) and J Johnston (59) took the score to 203 before the visitors fell short on 211.


Glusburn II pulled off a much-needed win when they beat Long Lee II by three wickets at Park Field.
Phil Atkinson made 50 of the Golden View side’s 103 as D Mortimer claimed 7-14 off 6.3 overs. Mick Hawkes then took 5-49 but was unable to stave off defeat.


Bradley II skipper Neil Lambert made 76 as his side beat visitors Cononley by 98 runs. Sandy Lane II were another team unable to raise a side as Bingley Congs II were awarded the three points.

Pendle Forest II are Division Five champions after winning at Haworth West End.

They were restricted to 84-9 as Liam Chipman took 3-18 but the Penistone Hill side were knocked over for just 58 in reply.


The only two sides that could have overtaken Pendle Forest II – Thornton II and Cowling II – both lost.

* Wilsden II had reached 34-2 after 13 overs against Embsay II when the rain washed out the Cowling Cup final at Denholme on Sunday.


As the 25-over mark had not been reached, the match will be restarted on Sunday, September 2 (1pm) at the same venue.
