Bradford-born Anthony McGrath was unbeaten on 78, with debutant Andrew Hodd on 15.
Two wickets fell in the afternoon session.
Gary Ballance was the first go for a well-crafted 79, before Bradfordian Adil Rashid was ousted for just 12 by Wes Durston.
