It is crunch time at Mount Pleasant as Solly Sports Central Yorkshire League Premier Division bottom club Batley take on third-from-bottom bottom Birstall on Saturday, with just five points separating the two clubs following defeats in their last games.
Batley were up against it in the top v bottom clash at Wrenthorpe.
After posting a modest 116, Muhammed Tahir's unbeaten 31 taking them to three figures, Daniel Wood (46) and Luke Patel (26 not out) saw them safely home, despite a notable 3-51 return from Hufaiza Patel in 15 overs.
Birstall were soundly beaten at Leeds Road when visitors Wakefield Thornes whisked them out for just 108 and then knocked off the runs without loss.
Thornes' all rounder Nadeera Nawela followed up his 4-26 with an unbeaten 56 off 49 balls.
Northowram Fields, the other side in the three-way relegation battle, will be hoping to take something from their clash with mid-table Mirfield Parish.
With just six games to go, the pace is hotting up in ther First Division promotion race.
Moorlands still lead the way, despite a five-wicket defeat at East Leeds, but Ossett are closing in on an early Premier Division return.
While third-placed Oulton take on Moorlands in their next game, Ossett entertain East Leeds, looking for a repeat of their outstanding batting in the 167-run win over East Ardsley, when Robert Wade (95) and Shoaib Latif (110) put on 195 for the first wicket in a total of 305-7.
There were good victories in this division for mid-table sides Liversedge and Buttershaw St Paul's, who were six-wicket winners at home to Wakefield St Michaels and at Scholes respectively.
Connor McInerney (88) and Nigel Doyle (6-55) were the key men for Liversedge, while skipper Paul Carroll (61) and Paul Robinson (6-40) were Buttershaw's match winners.
Buttershaw now take on Thornes A, while Liversedge go to Hopton Mills but both sides look to have left it too late to get among the promotion challengers.
