There are few shades of grey, let alone 50, in Bolton Villas’ season – it’s black or white, win or lose – and they blew the Aire-Wharfe League promotion race wide open with a win over DIVISION TWO leaders Pool.

Villas have drawn only two games all season and that record was not likely to be changed when they were bowled out for 184, in which Lee Margerison made 45.

But Villas’ strength is in their bowling and Sam Lawrence (4-70) and Syed Hashmi (4-22) managed to dismiss Pool for 164.

That opened the door for Harden and Rawdon , who gratefully stepped through to take over the top two positions.

James Seymour’s 120 not out was his second century of the season and, together with Ben Burkill (60), he led the way as Harden set a formidable 281-3 target.

North Leeds managed to hang on at 110-6 for a point but Harden still moved two points clear.

Rawdon looked to have the toughest match taking on Ilkley and were restricted to 188-9. But Tony Gilks (3-49) and John Hughes (4-31) chipped away and managed to clinch a 15-run win.

Green Lane’s challenge took a knock when half-centuries from Chris Wheeler and Hamish Skelt helped bottom side Olicanian hang on for two points.

Davin Charleston (97no) and Michael Slater (41) were top scorers in Lane’s 229-7 and Adeel Ashraf took 6-45 in the reply but the final wicket just would not fall as Olicanian closed on 181-9.

Julian Thornhill (121) and Shabir Bashir (81) put on 197 for the second wicket and set Calverley on the way to a huge 309-9 and five points against Bardsey (231-8).

And with Upper Wharfedale (120) blitzed by Knaresborough (121-1), it enabled Calverley to climb out of the bottom two.

Burley kept alive their hopes of overhauling the DIVISION ONE leaders, moving into third place after a decisive nine-wicket win at Thackley .

Shane Etherington’s seasonal best of 6-41 saw Thackley bowled out for 119 and David Brook (78no) led the comfortable run chase, giving Burley 25 of the last 30 points on offer.

But they are still two behind Collingham (252-3), who beat Adel (183) to relegate them, and seven adrift of Beckwithshaw, who won at Otley.

Stewart Smith (114no) and Andrew Ross (45no) put on 137 as Otley reached 224-4 but a century from John Inglis (105) helped the leaders clinch a five-wicket victory.

Steeton ’s early-season challenge continues to falter, bowled out for 111 in reply to Bilton’s 212 and slipping back to fourth place.

At the other end of the table, Ben Rhydding made it three wins in five matches after Jason Wright (5-18) and Charlie Swallow (3-21) skittled out Follifoot for 97.

The home side only just got home after losing eight wickets but moved a point closer to third-bottom Kirkstall (305-5), who dominated Guiseley (219-9) but had to settle for five points.

Like Bolton Villas, Addingham (250-4) earned the thanks of promotion hopefuls by taking four points off DIVISION THREE leaders Colton (206-9).

Ricky Palacio was the hero of the day with an unbeaten 100 and the result means Addingham have taken nine points off a side who have only dropped 13 all season.

That allowed Menston to edge within eight points in second place with a seven-wicket win over Skipton , who set a target of 205-8 with Steve Carling scoring 69.

Gareth Lee’s good form continued with 94 and, together with Nick Thornton (70), made sure Menston took full points.

Ross Todd (47) top-scored in Tong Park Esholt’s 158-9 before Mick Scott (3-50) and Nadeem Hanif (4-21) clinched victory after dismissing rock-bottom Alwoodley for 110 to keep Park two points behind Menston.

Majid Inayat hit 113 of Silsden ’s 198-9 but his side only picked up a point against New Rover (299-2).

Both Horsforth sides had a bad day, Hall Park (120) losing by 81 runs at Woodhouse (201) and Horsforth thrashed by Illingworth (34-2) after being rushed out for just 32.
