Former Bradford Central League club Low Moor were beaten in the Towergate Halifax League’s Briggs-Priestley Parish Cup final at Sowerby St Peters yesterday.
The underdogs were defeated by 26 runs in the rain-interrupted contest by SBCI, who thus won the first-team knockout climax for the second time in three years.
SBCI resumed on 153-5 after the contest had started eight days ago and added 62 runs for the loss of three wickets in the final ten overs.
Low Moor skipper Nick Wood and Mark Stokes picked up the wickets of experienced left-hander Craig Potts for 45 and Matthew Scholefield for four, who departed to a smart stumping by Carl Harrison.
Low Moor, who were without Mark Mills, replied with 189, Carl Harrison hitting 58 and Stokes 40 but SBCI skipper Jamie Sykes took two wickets in two balls to turn the final their way and earn the man-of-the-match award.
