Woodlands will retain the SDS Bradford League Division One title if they win at Saltaire on Saturday.

The holders comfortably disposed of Idle by six wickets at Oakenshaw but, because Pudsey Congs and Pudsey St Lawrence also won, the end-of-season fancy dress party at Albert Terrace could not double up as a championship celebration.

Congs, who lost their first three wickets for four runs at Morley, were rapidly revived by Andy Bairstow.

He hit 14 fours in his 90 and added 95 for the fourth wicket with Matthew Doidge (17), Bairstow's half-century coming in 69 minutes off 45 balls.

Off-spinner Steve Lane took four for 49 and Congs old boy Shehzad Butt bagged three for 38 in the visitors' 203 for nine.

Colin Nuthall (34), David Nebard (31) and Adam Larkin (30) all got established in Morley's reply of 139 but they could not cope with the in-form Neil Gill (5-39) and Muhammad Azhar Ullah (3-33).

Idle were put on the back foot by a magnificent diving catch in the gully by 50-year-old Murphy Walwyn.

That got rid of the dangerous Javed Umarji with the score on 33 and they were dismissed for 131, fellow opener Paul Cummins being run out for 40 by a direct hit from Chris Brice at mid-wicket.

Cummins hit seven fours in his knock of just over two hours, with Darren Lyons (21) helping Idle past three figures.

Safraz Ahmed's mean 11.5-over spell garnered him four for 14 and, although Woodlands lost Russell Murray and Richard Pyrah cheaply, they were seen home by opening batsman Scott Richardson.

He made a defiant 56 not out, getting to his half-century in 145 minutes off 107 balls, hitting a six and two fours off an Imran Dawood over to speed the contest to a conclusion.

Richardson hit seven fours and two sixes during his vigil, with Nick Rushworth striking seven fours and one six in a brisker one-hour innings of 37.

Rizwan Ahmed's unbeaten 60 was the sole stumbling block for Saints at home to Brighouse, who were dismissed for 114 as James Smith took four for 27.

Mark Robertshaw (52 not out) and Mark Whitehead (41 not out) added exactly 100 for the second wicket as St Lawrence triumphed by nine wickets in just 21.4 overs.

Woodlands now lead Congs by only nine points and St Law-rence by 13.

Congs are at Hanging Heaton next weekend and Saints are at home to Idle.

Woodlands skipper Tim Orrell said: "We are now one step closer to the title but Saltaire are a spirited side and they have given us trouble before.

"I just hope that the weather allows us to get in a full game of cricket and that we get the right result."

The defeat of Morley means they are virtually certain to join Keighley in being relegated.

They would need a 20-point haul at East Bierley and then would be reliant on Cleckheaton getting no more than three bonus points at home to Keighley.

The innings of the day came from Hanging Heaton's Sri Lankan Thilan Thushara.

He hit five fours and also an incredible 18 sixes in making 153 against Cleckheaton.

Hanging Heaton totalled 327 for two, with Chris Schofield carrying his bat for 84 and Zak Morris making 54, the openers adding 104 before Thushara came to the crease.

He then added 214 with Schofield, Thushara reaching his half-century in 50 minutes off 41 balls.

None of the Cleckheaton bowlers' figures made good reading but the worst was left-arm spinner Ian Nicholson, whose two overs cost 45 runs.

Ten minutes of playing time were lost in the hosts' innings looking for lost balls.

Umpire David Ratcliffe said: "They just kept disappearing out of the ground - either straight or square - and the first ball was out of shape after only six overs."

Cleckheaton replied with 210 all out, John Wood making 45 as an opener and Tom Pringle (43), Nicholson (39) and Adam Patel (30) also getting a start.

Bandula Don was the star for the Batley side with the ball, taking five for 18 off eight overs.

Paul Hutchison (4-38) helped East Bierley to a two-wicket win at Keighley, despite the efforts of Richard Robinson (4-30) and Ross Towler (4-50).

Mark Beckett's 74 was in a lost cause for Bradford & Bingley, who went down by three wickets at Saltaire, Gulsheraz Ahmed scoring an unbeaten 82 having come to the wicket at 26 for three.

Chris Henry (4-54), Robert Thornton (3-46), Alex Blakebor-ough (36 not out) and Ibrar Qadoos (33 not out) were the match-winners for Farsley at home to Baildon.
