Woodlands coud have a surprise inclusion for their Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup second-round tie at Undercliffe on Monday.
Albert Terrace all-rounder Chris Brice revealed last night: “I saw Grant Soames having a net today and I know he was going to have a chat with skipper Pieter Swanepoel but I don’t know the outcome of their conversation.”
Soames could have been out for the season with a knee injury suffered at the back end of the football season, and Brice added: “We aren’t firing on all cylinders yet but if Sarfraz Ahmed can get over his hamstring strain then we are getting somewhere near to full strength.”
Undercliffe’s Ashley Metcalfe said: “If Woodlands do have Grant back, then it will be a massive boost to them as he is a fine player.
“Woodlands have their usual top-quality bowling attack and we will have to be at our best to compete against them but if we do play to our best then we will surprise one or two teams this season.”
One Division Two side is bound to progress as Keighley entertain Idle, who beat the Lawkholme Laners by 43 runs in the league last Saturday.
