Dales Council League Division A leaders Shipley Providence made it six wins out of six when they defeated local rivals Hepworth & Idle – but they certainly did it the hard way.

Put in to bat, they recovered from a desperate-looking 107-8 to reach an unlikely 183, thanks to Umar Saib (53) and Rafaquat Mehmood (45).

In reply, Hepworth looked favourites to end the leaders’ unbeaten record at 92-1 but following the hit-wicket dismissal of Danny Bailey (48), the visitors were bowled out for just 146 (Tom Hawksworth 5-37) to ease the hosts to a 37-run win.

Rodley moved up to second in the table after a 62-run win at Baildon (146-7), where Simon Raistrick hit an unbeaten 125 out of 208-4 for the visitors.

Former leaders Halifax Direct crashed to their second successive defeat after being shot out for just 42 (Arularasan Gopalasamy 5-14) in response to visitors Leeds Sikh’s 149.

Crompark (80-1) put their current problems to one side when they recorded a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Charcos New Wortley (77).

Hawksworth (148-3, Amal Nand 72) completed a seven-wicket win over struggling Farnley Hill, who had been dismissed for 147.

Cookridge (119, Sultan Mahmood 5-10) remain rooted to the foot of the table following their visit to Hyde Park (211, Basharat Zaman 72, Ray Wells 5-29).

In Division B, leaders Saville Stars (124, Keith Marsden 5-33) kept their 100 per cent record intact with a narrow 23-run home win over Pudsey St Lawrence (101).

Free-scoring Apperley Bridge (266-8, Mohammed Kurshid 69, Yasir Khan 54no) recorded an 83-run win in their derby fixture at Hepworth & Idle B, who replied with 183-8. Evergreen home skipper Dave McDermott returned 5-86 with the ball and 48 with the bat.

In Division C, Apperley Bridge B and Thornbury B are threatening to run away from their rivals.

Leaders Apperley Bridge (335-6, Mohammed Junaid 105no, Ghulam Rehman 50) overwhelmed visitors Shipley Providence B, who were dismissed for just 97 in reply.

Thornbury were involved in a runs bonanza at home to Saville Stars B, the home side clocking up 340-9 (Tawqeer Ahmed 107, Naeem Nazir 82, Mohammed Rehan 80). In response the visitors replied with 230-8 (Nazam Arif 75, Makbul Patel 62).

Surprise result in Division D saw previously 100 per cent leaders Pudsey St Lawrence (137, Quentin Cleal 50) slump to a five-wicket defeat to Undercliffe (141-5, Jonny Holden 56).
