Steve Patterson took four wickets to help restrict Worcestershire to a below-par 155-9 in today’s Clydesdale Bank 40 Group A clash at New Road.
Yorkshire simply have to win this match to keep alive their hopes of qualification for the semi-finals, and they are halfway there.
Patterson had Moeen Ali caught behind by Simon Guy, Neil Pinner superbly stumped down the leg-side by the same man, Gareth Andrew well caught at long-on by Adam Lyth and James Cameron caught at mid-off by Gary Ballance.
Worcestershire did well to even post what they did having been reduced to 30-4 in the ninth over after Moeen had elected to bat first.
Left-handed Cameron and teenager Aneesh Kapil (44) shared 88 in 20 overs for the fourth wicket. Cameron top scored with 51 off 89 balls.
Oliver Hannon-Dalby and Adil Rashid both took two wickets. Patterson finished with 4-28 from eight overs.
