Green Lane clinched their first win of the season in Aire-Wharfe League Division One and climbed out of the bottom two when they overcame Guiseley with just one ball to spare.

A half-century from Yasser Ali and an unbeaten 37 from Mike Ellis helped Lane set a target of 185-8, which always looked achievable, especially when Ian Chaplin (47) was at the wicket.

But Istikhar Hussain (4-52) and Ali (3-22) stuck to the task and Guiseley were finally dismissed ten runs short of victory.

Lane’s place in the bottom two was taken by Burley, who became the latest victims of pacemakers Thackley. Mark Harrison (40no) was the only Burley batsman to shine against the tight bowling of Mahir Ali (4-56), Nasser Jamal (3-19) and Andrew Stothart (3-16), and his side’s 121 was never going to be enough against the in-form leaders.

Rawdon’s miserable start to the campaign continued when Adel skittled them for 66 to set up a comfortable six-wicket win.

Gareth Wilkinson hit a century as Tong Park Esholt picked up a four-point draw in their Division Two clash with Olicanian.

Despite Chris Spivey (5-58) taking five wickets for the second week in a row, Park reached 215-9, with Fawad Maqsood contributing 41.

The evergreen Mick Scott then got to work and his 5-62 helped restrict the visitors to 172-9.

Sam Lawrence’s third five-wicket haul of the campaign and 5-39 from Umer Yaqoob bowled out Menston for 125 and clinched a 95-run first win of the season for Bolton Villas.

Sam Wade (59) top-scored for Villas, while John Storey followed up a 5-61 spell with a half-century but couldn’t save Menston.

Ben Rhydding suffered their first setback of the season, managing only a point at Upper Wharfedale despite the efforts of Nick Smith (4-71) and Redmond Bolton (41).

That allowed Steeton to take over top spot after they crushed North Leeds. John Akrigg (42) and Mark Taylor (48) top scored in Steeton’s 215-8 but the destroyer was Ross Suri, who returned 5-32 as the fourth-placed side were dismissed for 130.

Harden are still among the front-runners after taking four points at Pool. Simon Woods (81no) top scored in their 245-6, and Jordan Mackenzie followed up a knock of 41 with 4-71 to make sure of the points.

Despite the batting of Julian Thornhill (72) and Gareth Lee (52), Calverley could not match Knaresborough’s 299-2 and had to settle for a point.

Keiran Williams (85) and Steve Carling (102) put on 187 for the first wicket as Skipton set a target of 224-5 in their thrilling Division Three clash at Ilkley.

It looked like another disappointing afternoon for the home side when they stood at 101-5 but with No 5 batsman Terry Patterson (95no) hitting lustily, they finally got home with three wickets to spare.

Andy Robinson (5-25) and Adam Mabb (5-72) combined to bowl out Woodhouse for 175 and set up a seven-wicket win for Horsforth, while Lee Bilbrough (75no) and Nathan Bradburty (50) led the way as Silsden beat Alwoodley with nine overs to spare.

Henry Barrow followed up the previous week’s seven-wicket haul with 6-70 as Hall Park were dismissed for 220, in which Faheem Bedford (53) and Danny Smith (51) top scored.

But Addingham’s batsmen could find no answer to Jonathan Postle (6-63) and fell 102 runs short of victory.
