There was one shock in the first round of the Mewies Solicitors' Craven League's Wynn Cup.

Division One leaders Bingley Congs were dumped out of the competition by Second Division Foulridge.

The Noyna side scored 189 going first, with S Woods making 74 not out as Aidy Dibb took 4-38 and Michael Baines 4-79. The Beckfoot Lane side could only muster 142 in reply, with Dibb top-scoring with 34.

Another Second Division side to come good were Pendle Forest, who dismissed visitors Cowling for 102 with Jon Cant taking 3-16, Nick Daniel 4-33 and Peter Hakin 3-37.

The Fence had reached 75 when they lost their first wicket and proceeded to lose five more before getting to their target.

Four First Division sides were made to work hard to make progress.

Haworth entertained Sutton and restricted them to 133 with S Zakira making 70 of them, Damian Rowell finished with 4-34.

It took a knock by opener Jamie Rowell (70no) to steady the ship before getting home by four wickets as Chris Williams claimed 3-40.

Cullingworth were at Denholme and took 38 overs to knock them over for 115, with Richard Sheard making 33 as Martin Rendell claimed 3-13.

Then Chris Welch (19), Gareth Marshall (0) and Brendan Ravenscroft (4) were back in the hut with only 48 on the board.

The door to a shock was ever so slighty ajar but, after calming things down, Nigel Brett (41no) and Steve Welch (35no) saw their side safely into the next round.

It was a similar story at Sandylands, where Skipton CI battled to 126 with second-team skipper Sam Smith top-scoring with 24 as Michael Scarborough took 3-18 and Jack Davison 3-37. The Cure Hill side were indebted to Drew Duffy (58) for getting them home by four wickets.

There was an exciting finish at Ingrow, where Haworth Road visited and made 193 with Muhammad Zahid making 54 and Feyaz Akram 45 as Ian Roberts took 4-36.

The Hainworth side got to within eight runs of the required total with Alan Broadley making 57 and Dale Hoyle 46 not oiut.

Bradley saw of Barrowford by six wickets, with Neil Andrews scoring 75 not out for the winners, and Wilsden were far too strong for Eldwick & Gilstead, winning by 128 runs with Steve Wright (62), S Wilson (48) and Dave Hahn (5-31) being the stars for the winners.

Sandy Lane visited Riddlesden and in an exciting finish triumphed by six runs.

Luke Ellis (54 and 5-27) and Adam Sutcliffe (50) were the winners' stars, while Mohammed Arshad 60 and K Razak 48 tried to hold things together for the losers.

Haworth West End and Gargrave conceded to Thornton and Embsay respectively.

Finally there was a pulsating finish at Long Lee, where Glusburn were the visitors. Karl Samson made 88 as the Park Field side piled up 195 in their innings, with junior Matty Stowell taking 4-34.

The Golden View side were cruising to a comfortable victory at 194-6. Suddenly three wickets fell at that score, including Matt Taylor, who was dismissed for 95. The winning runs were scrambled in the 40th over and the hosts were through by one wicket.
