Rain arrived around lunchtime to put a dampener on Saturday’s proceedings in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League, with matches reduced in overs and five games unable to start at all.
Bingley Congs are the sole occupiers of top spot in the First Division after they recorded a two- wicket victory over Oakworth at Beckfoot Lane.
The Cure Hill side took first knock and struggled to 132, with Drew Duffy 33 and skipper Joel Gallagher 31 putting on 63 for the fifth wicket.
Neil Copping finished with 3-42 while Michael Baines took 5-22 off 8.1 overs. Matthew House tore into the home side's batting and finished with 6-56 but the points stayed with the Bingley side as they got home in the 30th over.
The match of the day was at Crossflatts, where the champions entertained would-be pretenders Haworth Road.
The Baildon Bottom side made steady progress to 165-9, with Paul Rodwell top-scoring with 25 as Qammi Ayub took 4-54 and Mick Addy 4-52. Only Josh Brooksbank with 56 offered much resistance as the Bradford Road side crumpled to 120 all out.
The surprise of the day came at Cullingworth, where newly-promoted Barrowford won by 28 runs in a 25 overs-per-side thrash.
Freddy Bailey hit a run-a-ball 55 and Nick Burton 32 as the Bull Holme side posted an impressive 171-5. After losing Chris Welch without a run on the board, a second-wicket partnership of 114 by Gareth Marshall (51) and Steve Welch appeared to put the Roydwood Terrace side on the road to the points.
However, they slipped back and closed on 143-5 with Welch 71no.
Bradley were too strong for visitors Cononley, winning by 66 runs.
Craig Tempest (77) and Neil Andrews (63) helped the home side to 223, with Herbie Starkey taking 3-37. The latter followed this with 63 as Cononley closed on 157-6.
Embsay shipped a crucial 30 runs in the last three overs at home to Thornton and ended up losing by 19 in a 35 overs-per-side contest.
Rob Foster (43) and David Holt (41) saw the Booth Bridge Road side to 184-6. Nathan Robinson (39) and Robert Bateman (32) looked to be taking their side to victory but both perished and the Shires Laners closed on 163-8.
There was no play between Haworth and Cowling.
Sutton take over at top of the Second Division, despite their game at Long Lee being rained off.
Glusburn are joint second, a point behind, after a fine five-wicket victory over Wilsden at Park Field. The Windy Grove made 171-3, with Steve Wright (64no), Steve Wilson (50) and Adrian Stafford-Bennett (37no) being the main contributors.
The home side promoted Brian Hollis to No 3 and he responded with 47 to launch the victory charge. Alan Coney scored 38 not out and Paul Barker 32 as the winning post was reached in the 31st over.
Sandy Lane are level with Glusburn after they beat Embsay II quite easily at Greenwood Park.
The hosts made 202-7 declared, with Adam Sutcliffe scoring 50 and James Dennison 46.
The visitors slumped to 89-9 before a 24-run last- wicket partnership got them to 113, with Dennison claiming 3-7 Ingrow travelled to Fence and recorded an eight-run victory.
Batting first, the Hainworth side made 152-5, with Lee Humphreys hitting 42 and Dale Hoyle 30 not out. John Cant top-scored with 45 as the home side closed on 144, with Chris White taking 6-77.
Riddlesden only managed 127 at Chatburn but knocked the Ribble Valley side over for 115, with Nasser Kamal (4-43) and Mick Hawkes (4-21) doing the damage.
David Spokes (98no) and Andrew Makin (39no) put on 69 for the fifth wicket, which helped Foulridge to 221-4 at Noyna.
Visitors Airedale were on the back foot from the start, crashing to 3-3. They recovered thanks to Mohammed Arshad, who finished 72 not out, and Imran Zaman (50) before closing on 191 all out, with A White taking 5-64.
Joint top of the Third Division are Gargrave and Haworth Road. The former entertained Cullingworth II and won by three wickets.
Haworth Road II are enjoying a better campaign this season and they saw off Crossflatts II by 25 runs at Baildon Bottom. L Malik with 48 was the backbone of the hosts' 160 as Darren Mason claimed 5-28 off 11 overs.
The visitors were undone by N Gata-Aura, who finished with 5-37, seeing the Baildon Bottom side to the spoils.
Oakworth II join Ingrow St John’s in joint third place after beating them by 85 runs.
Denholme's batters were in sparkling form when they entertained Glusburn II. After losing two wickets for 37, Rob Taylor (119no) and Richard Taylor (75no) put on an undefeated 198 for the third wicket.
All the home bowlers took at least one wicket as the Park Field side crumpled to 96 and defeat by 139 runs.
Haworth West End and Skipton CI were victims of the weather, while Cononley were unable to raise a side, so Eldwick & Gilstead receive three points.
Two sides, Barrowford II and Ingrow St John’s II, top the Fourth Division. Skipper Pete Husband (31) top-scored for the Bull Holme side as they battled to 130, with I Khan taking 4-37 and Shahid Mahmood 3-27.
The Greenwood Park side were hustled out for 63 with John Ormerod taking 3-34 and Ajmal Choudrhy 3-8 off 13 overs with eight maidens.
Ingrow St John’s II rattled up 190 at Bradley II, with A Khalid have a great time - first by scoring 39 not out batting at No 11 and then taking 7-48 as the South Craveners replied with 95. Jasper Bean took 6-79 for the losers.
Ingrow II were to strong for Pendle Forest II at Hainworth. They posted a moderate 135-8 in their overs, with Nick Crook making 34 not out as T Zaman took 4-54. The Fence side replied with a modest 88, Martin Casey bagging 4-35 Riddlesden II entertained and beat Chatburn II by four wickets, with S Kernan scoring 82 for the Stockbridge side.
Little Marsden’s visit to Wilsden II proved very fruitful as the turned the Windy Grove side over by 84 runs.
Bradford & Bingley III are still pointless after going down by four wickets at home to Long Lee II.
The Fifth Division is proving very competitive as six sides are level on points at the top.
Bingley Congs II got three points when Pendle Forest III were unable to raise a team, while Skipton CI got the better of Haworth WE II at Sandylands, winning by just 13 runs.
Cowling II had no answer to Haworth’s Derek Bright, who took 6-23 to help the home side out for 78. Then Adie Ratcliffe made 51 as the Bronte side galloped home by nine wickets.
Eight-man Foulridge slumped to 44 all out – a total Airedale passed without loss. M Lee (33) and M Clegg (3-23) were the best performers for Oakworth III as they beat Eldwick & Gilstead III at Dick Hudsons.
The first three batters for Thornton II all made half-centuries – Tim Gates and John Roughton both made 55 as Andy Bowker chipped in with 52 to set up a total of 211-6.
The visitors were dismissed for 110, with Will Proctor leading the bowlers with 4-28 off nine overs.
