Lorenzo Inghram continued his spectacular start to the season as he helped Farsley to take over at the top of the JCT600 Bradford League First Division table.

The Jamaican batsman, who began the campaign with unbeaten centuries – 153 and 125 – has still to be dismissed after scoring 90 not out to lead Farsley to their third successive win as they beat previously unbeaten leaders Hanging Heaton by eight wickets at Red Lane.

His value to Farsley is not confined to his batting, however, for he took 4-43 with his spin alongside pace bowler Chris Henry (4-47) as Hanging Heaton were dismissed for 178.

Farsley then cruised to victory with 14.2 overs to spare thanks to an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 152 between Inghram and skipper Ian Philliskirk.

Inghram dominated the stand, hitting 17 fours as he finished ten runs short of what would have been a third successive century, with Philliskirk making 37.

Farsley are one point ahead of Pudsey St Lawrence, who beat Baildon by five wickets thanks to their new opening batsman Adam Waite – who has joined them from Aire-Wharfe League club Guiseley.

The talented youngster hit a six and 17 fours in his innings of 111, sharing a first-wicket stand of 101 with Mark Robertshaw (64) as St Lawrence went past Baildon’s total of 249-7 with 3.2 overs to spare. Opener Johnny Reynolds was Baildon’s top scorer with 59.

Opener Simon Davies guided Bradford & Bingley to a three-wicket home win over Undercliffe with an unbeaten 119, including seven sixes and 13 fours, to lift them into third place.

Foundations for Undercliffe’s total of 258-6 were laid in a third-wicket stand of 102 between close-season signing, Yorkshire batsman Callum Geldart, and skipper Ben Heritage. Geldart also made 119, including two sixes and 17 fours, while Heritage scored 67.

Bingley overcame the loss through run outs of key batsmen Naweed Ghany and Chris Thompson to win with four overs to spare, as Davies received good support from skipper Phil Slater (46) and James Davies (37).

Woodlands gained their first win of the season, a surprisingly comfortable eight-wicket success against East Bierley. Slow left-arm bowler Chris Brice took 4-23 as Bierley were bowled out for 145 before Woodlands raced to victory in only 24.3 overs, thanks to opener Sam Frankland, who made 95 not out, including two sixes and 18 fours.

Teenage opener Andy Gorrod made an unbeaten 111 as Gomersal inflicted a surprise 67-run defeat on defending champions Pudsey Congs. Gorrod, who hit two sixes and 15 fours, dominated Gomersal’s innings of 196-8 as pace bowler Muhammad Naveed took 6-52. Congs then slid to 129 all out with left-arm spinner Ben Platt taking advantage of helpful conditions to finish with 6-42.

There was another tight finish for Manningham Mills. A week after being involved in a tie with Undercliffe, Mills beat Cleckheaton by one run.

Cleckheaton needed 13 to win from the last over bowled by Zeeshan Qasim’s with two wickets left. They looked set to win with two required from the last two balls, but James Robinson was run out and then Ian Nicholson was caught for 35 off the last delivery.

Massod Ahmed (61) and Farakh Hussain (50) were top scorers as Mills made 216-8. Mark Cummins (60) led Cleckheaton’s challenge with good support from skipper John Wood (48) and Tim Jackson 38), but they fell agonisingly short.
