Yorkshire were bowled out for 355 in their match against Durham MCCU.
It meant they had a first-innings lead of 159 going into tea on day two of the three-day friendly at the Racecourse Ground.
Much of that was down to stand-in skipper Joe Sayers, who was eventually ousted for 139 during the afternoon session.
David Wainwright also impressed, making 62, but the Tykes crumbled after he went with the score on 326-6.
Gurman Randhawa (5), Oliver Hannon-Dalby (0) and Bradford-born Moin Ashraf (6) all went cheaply, to leaving record-breaking debutante Barney Gibson on one not out.
Yorkshire now have four sessions remaining to try and force a victory.
