Yorkshire have struggled so far during their three-day match with Durham MCCU at the Racecourse Ground.
The students have reached lunch on day one on 111 for two after winning the toss and electing to bat.
Oliver Hannon-Dalby and David Wainwright have got the wickets, with wicket-keeper Barney Gibson, who has become Yorkshire’s youngest ever player today, taking a stunning catch on his first-class debut to make the first breakthrough.
That got rid of Luc Durandt, for 11, with Wainwright then clean bowling Greg Smith for 22.
However, Chris Jones has reached the interval on 57 not out, with Tom Westley unbeaten on 12.
The Tykes have named a strong side for the match and England fast-bowler Ajmal Shahzad is in the team as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
