In Group C of the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League, newcomers Allerton B visited Heathfield Grove, where they encountered last year’s GF Terry Bowling award winner Akhtar Mahmood in good form.
His 6-14 was instrumental in dismissing Allerton B for 51.
Bowling Baptist also found batting tricky but got home by four wickets against a young and spirited side.
Girlington B also made a winning start with an eight-run triumph Salem Athletic B. Khalid Mahmood scored 49 for Girlington.
West Bowling defeated Cambing by 38 runs as Mohammed Rafiq took 6-18, and Great Horton Church B defeated depleted Cross Roads & Daisy Hill by five wickets.
In Group D, Muff Field B beat Bradford Indians by 63 runs, Raghit Dedtin taking 4-16 for Indians and Dave Crossland 7-9 for Muff Field.
Mayfield made 180-4 against Cross Roads & Daisy Hill, Kamram Azmir making 49 and Gary Smith 51 not out. Bilal Moghal then scored 102 not out in Daisy’s 131 all out.
Buttershaw St Paul’s, who made 96 (Narendra Patel 4-15) beat Yorkshire LPS B by 35 runs, Joe Bowes-Ayres claiming 4-21 for the winners in a low-scoring match.
