Yorkshire’s teenage fast bowler Moin Ashraf is set to make his debut for Undercliffe in Saturday’s JCT600 Bradford League Division One clash with Manningham Mills.
It means that the talented 19-year-old will be in direct opposition to his elder brother Mohammad Shara- fat who is poised to return to the Mills team after missing last Saturday’s one-wicket defeat by Hanging Heaton.
Mills captain Amjid Hussain says his team are looking forward to challenge of facing Undercliffe and their young pace bowler.
“It is always good to play at Undercliffe,” said Hussain. “The wicket is good and there is usually a big crowd there.
“Facing Moin, who played in Yorkshire’s first two County Championship games, adds to the challenge.”
Hussain makes no secret of his side’s prime objective this season.
“We want to consolidate our position in Division One. We have a number of young players and this is a big learning curve for them.”
East Bierley, the only team in the top flight to get maximum points on the opening day, have three key players, Durham paceman Mitch Claydon, batsman Andrew Rennison and left-arm spinner Luke Jarvis missing for their home clash with Pudsey St Lawrence.
Champions Pudsey Congs and Priestley Cup holders Bradford & Bingley meet in an interesting clash at the Britannia Ground, while Baildon and Farsley, both winners last week, face each other at Jenny Lane.
Woodlands, beaten by Pudsey Congs in their first game, hope to bounce back at Hanging Heaton.
Cleckheaton and Gomersal meet at Moorend.
